Natural-Dyed Shaker Stitch Sweater

A classic piece of American knitwear, now available in a natural-dyed palette.

A Shaker Stitch is a variant of the fisherman's rib, often referred to as a half-fisherman’s rib and defined by a two-row repeat pattern. This construction leads to a sweater that feels the same on both sides. It’s effectively reversible and drapes with ease. The crewneck collar on our version is pronounced while ribbed wrists and a lengthened hem sculpt the body.

The Shakers, or 'Shaking Quakers', created this knit pattern – a group of Christian pacifists who settled in New York state in 1774. The Shakers were prolific inventors and designers known for their historic and iconic contributions to architecture and furniture. There’s something elegant and minimal about this sweater’s lines. It's not flashy and still, always looks good. A 100% Cotton yarn, simply warm and soft, makes it easy enough to machine wash. The Shakers would always make something with such utility.
