Sometimes opportunities come up - the door opens - and you need to drop everything and see it through. Last December, after 170 years, the longest-running woolen mill in the USA, the Woolrich Woolen Mill (of Woolrich, PA) closed. It's a tough read, but if you want to learn more, read this. We learned there were remaining rolls of wool fabric at the mill on clearance. We got in the car and drove 3 hours from Philadelphia to Woolrich to take a look. We found some cool stuff, including this classic shadow plaid.
We acquired one roll of this particular plaid fabric, enough to make ~10 blankets at an amazingly low price. The fabric is plush and soft. It makes a great couch throw or stadium blanket and is highly giftable. Blankets of this size and weight tend to retail for around $195.
material: 100% deadstock wool fabric from Woolrich Woolen Mill, 18oz.
