We've been wanting to make a hardcore winter jacket for a while now. Something that could take on the absolute worst of the season - we're talking tundra-ready. And we couldn't imagine a better company to make that jacket with, than Cockpit USA. A long-time military contractor, Cockpit USA has been churning out tough-as-nails outerwear for the armed forces, and civilians, for over forty years.
Our collaborative N3B Snorkel Parka features one of Cockpit's most classic silhouettes, done up with best-in-class materials throughout.
The shell is made from the same weather-resistant, 100% cotton rip-stop Ventile as our Trench Coats. We used military-grade synthetic down from Primaloft for the insulation. And the hood has real American coyote fur on the trim, which can be removed for cleaning.
Pound for pound, we genuinely believe this is one of the finest winter coats money can buy. It'll keep you warm, dry, and looking great, for decades to come.
This jacket is proudly cut and sewn at a factory in Northern, NJ, about 30 minutes from New York City. The exclusive brick and mortar stockist of this jacket is Epaulet on Orchard St in New York City.
Fabric and Materials
The exterior facing fabric of the American Trench is 100% cotton Ventile fabric, woven in the same mill in the UK since 1943. Ventile was originally developed in WWII to use as flight suits for British pilots to survive North Atlantic seas. Ventile is densely woven from American grown and spun extra long staple (ESL) Supima cotton, and the tightness of the weave creates a water repellent fabric. There is an additional DWR coating on the fabric - a modern twist that increases surface tension (beading effect) but does not inhibit breathability.
The interior fill of this jacket is Primaloft, a premium maker of synthetic insulation and supplier to the United States military.
The hood has been trimmed in real American Coyote fur, which protects the face from blowing snow and removable for cleaning. The hood has been lined in faux fur, which is warm around the head and neck but makes the coat fully machine washable or dry cleaned when fur is removed.
